Mullen's,
in Eastbourne, is a traditional pub, built in the late 19th
century.
Formerly known as the White Hart, it is situated in a prominent
location, on the corner of Seaside and Firle Road, opposite the
town's Territorial Army Centre and just a short walk or drive from
the town centre. It is also well served by public transport,
being on a major bus route and within walking distance of Eastbourne
Railway station.
In 2001, the lease of the pub was bought by Dave and Emma Mullen, and
their business partner Pam Cable, and "Mullen's" was born.
They came in with a 'new broom sweeps clean' attitude, and gave the
once tired pub not only a new name and fresh coat of paint, but also
a fresh approach and identity. Seven years on, Mullen's is
still run by the original management team, and continues to go from
strength to strength.
Primarily, Mullen's is a family business, and this close-knit ethos
extends to our staff and customers, be they regulars or first
time visitors. We pride ourselves on our friendliness and
hospitality, and this affable approach, combined with high
quality beverages and good service, ensures that most
people who pop into Mullen's for the first time will invariably
return again and again.
We serve an extensive range of high quality spirits, wines and
beers. Our locally brewed Harveys Best bitter is widely
regarded as the best pint around, and it goes without saying that
with a landlord from Dublin, our Guinness is exceptional!
Mullen's is a community pub in the truest sense of the word, and
supports a thriving local events programme including darts,
karaoke and pool, with two pool teams playing in the local
league.
We also have a new Sunday football team made up of enthusiastic staff
and customers.
In addition, Mullen's is a great supporter of live music, and it is
this which we are, quite rightly, most well-known
for. Each
and every Friday and Saturday night, we showcase a wide variety of
music from the best live bands, both locally-based and from further
afield. Musicians love playing here because of the unique and
often electric atmosphere at Mullen's, and we have
established an
outstanding reputation amongst music fans as one of the finest live
music venues in East Sussex. In addition to our regular
Friday
and Saturday night music spots, we have recently established a new
'folk music night' on Sundays, which is rapidly gaining in popularity
and support. We are constantly on the
lookout for new
talent, and welcome demo discs from new bands who would like
to
play at Mullen's.
As well as providing a platform for the best in musical
talent,
Mullen's also caters to the enthusiatic amateur, and Thursday
is
Karaoke Night!! Now an established regular
event, hosted
with aplomb by our resident DJ Zip, karaoke nights at Mullen's are
huge fun for everyone, be they Tony Bennett or tone deaf!!
Each
singer receives one free drink for their courage, and the atmosphere
is one of great camerarderie, with much support for all, even
if
the tunes are a little less than melodic!
In
addition to our musical accolades, Mullen's is
widely renowned
as an excellent venue for watching sporting events on our two giant
screens. We show all major football league and cup games, and
being an Irish pub, we also show Gaellic football and hurling
matches. Is is worth mentioning that we are, in fact, the
ONLY
Irish pub in Eastbourne, and as such, our annual St. Patrick's
Day parties are legendary!
Whatever day of the year, it is worth popping into Mullen's,
as
there is always something going on. The welcome will
always be a warm one, and the craic will always be mighty!
We look forward to seeing you soon.
